On Sunday 1 March 2026, 20-year-old Matthew Brennan made history. The young Briton sprinted to victory and claimed his first win in a Flemish Classic in Kuurne. After a hectic and attacking race, Brennan kept his cool in the finale and finished it off convincingly.
For Brennan, it was an important milestone in his young career. For Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, it was once again a moment that perfectly fits the DNA of the race.
Where Legends Are Born.
Brennan is now 21 and his victory in Kuurne was anything but a stroke of luck. In 2026, he continued to establish himself as one of the most remarkable young names in the international peloton. The Briton now has twelve victories this season.
His performances in the Vuelta a España are particularly impressive. On his Grand Tour debut, Brennan won no fewer than five stages.
