The junior version of Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne had a Belgian winner on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Tuur Verbeeck soloed convincingly to victory and crossed the finish line with an eight-second lead over the Dane Mikkel Bang Fredsø Weigelt. The podium was completed by Thor Feyaerts, who was the fastest in the sprint for third place.

Strong solo from Verbeeck

The 17-year-old Verbeeck broke away from his competitors in the final phase and managed to hold his lead until the finish in Kuurne. Behind him, Weigelt had to settle for second place, while Feyaerts won the sprint for third place in a small group.

Other Belgian riders also made their mark. Mauro Keppens and Witse Bertels sprinted from the peloton to ninth and tenth place respectively, meaning that Belgium finished with four riders in the top ten.

Talent from the R.EV Brussels Cycling Academy

Verbeeck rides for the R.EV Brussels Cycling Academy, the youth team founded by two-time Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel. With this initiative, Evenepoel wants to support and guide young talent from his region.

Remarkably enough, Evenepoel himself also knows the feeling of winning in Kuurne. In 2018, during his second junior year, he also won this race solo. Has another legend been born in Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne with Tuur Verbeeck?
